How this estimator works
The ranges in this calculator come from actual local pricing in Poovar Island as of April 2026 — not tourist-trap rates or inflated OTA quotes. We update them when prices shift noticeably. Three things to keep in mind:
- Season matters. November through February is peak season in Kerala, and rates can run 30–50% above our baseline. Monsoon (June through September) is the cheapest, but weather can disrupt boat activities.
- Party size affects per-person cost. A couple pays roughly the same for a room as a solo traveler — so per-person accommodation cost drops dramatically with more people in the same room.
- Luxury tier has a huge range. The best floating cottages at premium resorts can hit ₹30,000+ per night during peak season. Our luxury range is broad because the market segment is broad.
What the estimator does NOT include
- International flights. If you're coming from outside India, flights to Trivandrum (TRV) are a separate budget line. Expect $500–$1,500 from most international origins.
- Visa costs. India requires e-visas for most international visitors. Typically $25–$80 depending on duration.
- Travel insurance. Always recommended for international trips. Typically $30–$80 for a week-long trip.
- Shopping, tips, and extras. Kerala handicrafts, ayurvedic products, and spices are genuinely good souvenirs — budget accordingly.
